Dean Pitot
Wirral
Starting a business in a new country, in a brand new trade – Pacifica Local made it not just possible, but genuinely rewarding.
From Mauritius to Merseyside – building something meaningful
Dean Pitot launched Pacifica Local Wirral in 2025, bringing with him over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience across multiple industries and continents. Before joining Pacifica Local, Dean had built and operated a range of successful businesses internationally – spanning retail, recruitment, hospitality, and import/export across South Africa and Mauritius.
Having spent decades running his own enterprises, his move into appliance repair marked a complete career pivot. After relocating to the UK, Dean was looking for a new challenge that would allow him to make a meaningful impact in his adopted community. The Pacifica Local franchise opportunity provided exactly that – even without any prior engineering experience.
The decision to join Pacifica Local was shaped by the opportunity to combine independence with a structured support system. While traditionally cautious about franchise models, Dean recognised the value in Pacifica's approach – particularly the hands-on training, access to technical expertise, and day-one work allocation.

New country, new trade – the right model to make it work
Dean had built businesses from scratch across three continents. He knew what it meant to take risks, manage uncertainty, and lead teams through challenging periods. But starting fresh in a new country, in a completely new trade, required something different – a structured foundation he could build on, rather than starting from zero.
Pacifica Local resolved that. The combination of hands-on training, City & Guilds accreditation, guaranteed day-one work, and a constantly accessible support network made entering the appliance repair industry not just feasible, but genuinely rewarding. Dean's entrepreneurial instincts and Pacifica's proven model turned out to be a powerful combination.
"Pacifica Local has made starting a business in a new country not just possible, but genuinely really rewarding."
"There's always someone to call – whether it's a senior engineer or someone at the head office team – and that kind of support makes all the difference when you're learning and growing something new."
Twenty-five years of enterprise, one bold new chapter
A story of ambition, adaptability, and new beginnings – from building businesses internationally to serving a Merseyside community he's proud to call home.
Building Businesses Internationally
Dean spent over 25 years building and running businesses across South Africa and Mauritius – spanning retail, recruitment, hospitality, and import/export. Each venture developed his adaptability, resilience, and customer-first approach to enterprise.
Relocated to the UK & Joined Pacifica
After relocating to the UK, Dean was drawn to Pacifica Local for its practical model and purpose-led ethos. Despite having no prior engineering experience, the City & Guilds training programme and in-territory shadowing gave him a confident, structured start.
Fully Operational in the Wirral
Now fully operational, Dean is building his reputation across the Wirral, gradually expanding into private work while growing his confidence and technical capability. His entrepreneurial experience and Pacifica's support structure are proving a powerful combination.
A new trade, a new community, a growing business
Since launching in 2025, Dean has demonstrated that resilience, adaptability, and the right support structure can enable anyone to successfully pivot into a new sector.
Trade Learned from Scratch
With no prior engineering background, Dean completed Pacifica's City & Guilds accredited training and in-territory shadowing to develop the technical skills needed to operate independently and confidently.
Expanding Into Private Work
Backed initially by Pacifica's warranty work allocation, Dean is now progressively expanding into privately generated jobs – building a growing client base and local reputation across the Wirral.
Community Impact from Day One
Dean's purpose-led approach – building something meaningful in his new community – has shaped how he operates and how customers experience his service. That motivation is visible in every interaction.
Entrepreneurial Experience, Redirected
25 years of running businesses internationally hasn't gone to waste. Dean's commercial instincts, adaptability, and resilience have proven highly transferable – giving him a head start on the business ownership side from day one.
Building a reputation, one repair at a time
Dean operates Pacifica Local Wirral with the focus of someone building something that genuinely matters. Each day is a combination of hands-on repair work and the ongoing development of his technical skills – both of which are still growing, supported by the Pacifica network around him.
He draws on a wealth of transferable skills from his entrepreneurial career: adaptability when faced with unfamiliar problems, resilience through the early challenges of a new trade, and a customer-first mindset developed across decades of building businesses. Those qualities don't just complement the technical side – they shape the experience his customers receive.
Dean recognises that learning a new trade takes time, but he's clear that with persistence, clear communication, and the right support, it is a highly achievable transition. His journey from Mauritius to Merseyside is proof of exactly that.
"The hands-on training gave me the confidence to get started straight away. Pacifica Local has made starting a business in a new country not just possible, but genuinely really rewarding."
The support that made a new country feel like home
For Dean – launching a franchise in a new country, learning a new trade, and building from scratch – Pacifica's support structure wasn't just helpful. It was the thing that made the whole endeavour possible.
City & Guilds Training Academy
With no engineering background, Dean needed training that could take him from a standing start to operational confidence quickly. Pacifica's City & Guilds accredited programme at their Training Academy gave him exactly that structured, credible pathway in.
In-Territory Engineer Shadowing
After training, Dean worked alongside a qualified Pacifica engineer in his Wirral territory before operating independently. That real-world immersion – in his own patch – built practical confidence that classroom training alone cannot provide.
Day-One Work Allocation
Launching into an unfamiliar market with no existing customer base required reliable income from the start. Pacifica's day-one warranty work allocation gave Dean a stable foundation while he developed his reputation and expanded into private work.
Always Someone to Call
Whether mid-job with a complex fault or navigating a business challenge, Dean knows a senior engineer or HQ team member is always available. That constant accessibility transforms difficult situations into learning opportunities rather than dead ends.
Entrepreneurial Experience, Applied
Dean brought 25 years of business leadership to his franchise. Pacifica's support structure helped him direct that commercial experience productively – channelling his instincts for growth and customer relationships into a focused local business model.
Purpose-Led Model Alignment
Dean chose Pacifica Local because the repair-over-replace ethos aligned with his values. Building something meaningful for his new community has been a consistent motivator – and the Pacifica model gives him the platform to act on that purpose every day.
"There's always someone to call – whether it's a senior engineer or someone at the head office team – and that kind of support makes all the difference when you're learning and growing something new."
Learning a new trade takes time – but with persistence, clear communication, and the right support around you, it is absolutely achievable. Don't let the unfamiliar put you off. The training is there, the support is there. Back yourself and build something you're proud of.
