About

From corporate career to franchise owner

Tahir Khan launched Pacifica Local High Wycombe in July 2024, following a 25-year career with Sky TV. In those years, Tahir held senior roles managing engineering teams, developing extensive leadership and operational experience along the way.

After being offered redundancy, he made the decision to pursue a new direction and build something of his own. Despite coming from a largely management-focused background, he was drawn to the opportunity to enter a new sector with the support of a proven model. Through structured training and in-field experience, he developed the technical confidence needed to make the transition.

Moving into franchise ownership offered Tahir a way to combine independence with security. Having seen the strength of the brand, training, and day-one work allocation, he recognised it as a lower-risk route into business ownership. After an initial period building confidence through Pacifica-provided work, he began generating his own leads and gaining positive customer reviews to establish credibility in his local market.

Why This Franchise

Independence with the safety net of a proven model

Tahir had the leadership skills and industry knowledge to go it alone – but the risks of starting from scratch were a real concern. Pacifica Local resolved that tension by offering the best of both worlds: the freedom to run his own business, combined with a proven model, a strong national brand, and work from day one.

He recognises that while the technical side of appliance repair can be learned, success comes from commitment, consistency, and a willingness to adapt – qualities he'd developed throughout his career at Sky TV.

"I didn't want another job doing the same thing! I'd built great leadership skills and had a knowledge of the industry but wanted freedom too – something of my own."

Journey

Twenty-five years of experience, one bold next step

A career pivot built on leadership, in-field training, and the drive to build something sustainable in his local community.

25 Years

Senior Career at Sky TV

Tahir spent over two decades managing engineering teams at Sky TV, developing deep expertise in leadership, operations, and customer management. When redundancy arrived, he chose to treat it as an opportunity rather than a setback.

July 2024

Launched Pacifica Local High Wycombe

Meeting Pacifica Local at a franchise exhibition gave Tahir the confidence to commit. Structured training and an initial period of Pacifica-provided work allowed him to build technical skills and confidence before generating his own leads.

2025

A Growing Team & Expanding Reach

Now operating with a growing team, Tahir is focused on expanding his reach across the High Wycombe area. His transferable skills in leadership, organisation, and customer management have proven central to building a scalable, sustainable business.

Results

A business built on credibility and momentum

Since launching in July 2024, Tahir has built a growing, established presence across High Wycombe with a clear foundation for long-term scale.

Stable Launch Platform

An initial period of Pacifica-provided warranty work gave Tahir the breathing room to develop skills and build confidence without the pressure of finding his own customers from day one.

Own-Lead Generation

Having established credibility through positive customer reviews, Tahir now generates his own enquiries consistently – a key milestone in building a sustainable, independent business.

A Growing Team

Now operating with a growing team, Tahir has successfully scaled beyond a solo operation – applying the leadership and organisational skills developed throughout his career at Sky TV.

Expanding Across High Wycombe

Focused on capturing more of his local market, Tahir is building a scalable and sustainable operation – with a long-term vision of creating something that supports his family and community for years to come.

Day-to-Day

Running his own business, his own way

Tahir operates Pacifica Local High Wycombe with a growing team, applying the leadership and operational skills he refined over 25 years at Sky TV to a completely new context. Each day combines hands-on repair work with managing his team, reviewing customer feedback, and developing his local reputation.

The shift from senior employee to business owner has brought a different kind of satisfaction. Every customer interaction, every positive review, every new enquiry is the result of something he built himself – a contrast to the corporate structure he left behind.

He attributes much of his progress to transferable skills gained throughout his career: leadership, organisation, and a customer-first approach. While the technical side of appliance repair took time to learn, it was those foundational qualities that enabled a smooth transition into business ownership.

"The best thing about being a franchise partner? For me, it's the freedom to run my own business but with the reassurance of a brand like Pacifica Local behind me. Their reputation gives you real peace of mind, and you know you're never on your own – it's the full package."
– Tahir Khan, Pacifica Local High Wycombe
Support

The infrastructure that made the difference

Transitioning from a 25-year management career at Sky TV into a completely new industry isn't without its challenges. For Tahir, the depth of Pacifica's support structure was what made that transition not just manageable – but genuinely enjoyable.

City & Guilds Assured Training

Tahir held a diploma in electronics, but appliance repair was still a new discipline. He describes the training as fun, practical and inspiring – the team showed him exactly what to do and gave him the confidence to get stuck in from the start.

In-Field Support

Coming from a management background, hands-on in-field experience was essential for building the technical confidence to work independently. Ongoing support from Pacifica's team kept Tahir on the right track as his skills developed.

Day-One Work Allocation

For Tahir's first three months, all work came through Pacifica's centrally managed warranty contracts. This gave him the space to develop skills and confidence at his own pace, before opening up to Checkatrade enquiries.

Business Assistance

Tahir's leadership background meant the business modules felt familiar – but having thorough operational guidance still proved valuable as he made the shift from managing others to running his own enterprise.

Ongoing HQ Backing

Going it alone in those early months was tough. Consistent backing from the Pacifica HQ team gave Tahir the confidence and knowledge to know he was on the right track – a support structure he describes as "overwhelming" in the best possible way.

First-Class Infrastructure

From the systems and processes to the franchise management support, Tahir was struck immediately by the quality of the model. That first impression has only been reinforced as the business has grown – helping him launch and expand seamlessly.

"When I first spoke to our franchise manager, I could see the infrastructure was first class. Now with that extra experience, the training, and support from the franchise team are on the same level too. It's all helped me launch and expand seamlessly."
– Tahir Khan, Pacifica Local High Wycombe
