Graham Elvidge
Barnsley
I wanted the opportunity to build something of my own while providing a valuable service to local customers.
From financial adviser to franchise owner
Graham Elvidge launched Pacifica Local Barnsley in June 2025, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in customer-facing, sales and account management roles. Before joining Pacifica Local, Graham worked as a qualified Financial Adviser and Mortgage Adviser – a career built on a genuinely varied path that started on a market stall and went on to take in structural steel estimating, IT and telecommunications sales, and production management in the steel industry.
That variety gave Graham a broad foundation of practical and people skills, but it was his time in financial services that brought him closest to the decision to take the leap into business ownership. Despite having several opportunities available within the financial services industry, Graham chose the Pacifica Local route because he wanted to build something of his own – a business that offered a quicker route to a sustainable income and a long-term asset.
Now based in Barnsley and serving the local community, Graham brings the same diligence and people-first approach that defined his career in financial services to every job he takes on – combining technical know-how with a genuine enthusiasm for solving problems.

Choosing a business, not just another job
As a qualified Financial Adviser and Mortgage Adviser, Graham was no stranger to opportunity – there were several paths open to him within financial services. But each of those was, ultimately, still someone else's business. What Graham wanted was something of his own: a venture he could build, grow and shape on his own terms.
Pacifica Local stood out because it offered a quicker route to a sustainable income and a long-term asset than starting completely from scratch. The structured training, City & Guilds accreditation, and day-one work allocation meant Graham could move from employed adviser to business owner with a proven model behind him – reducing the risk that usually comes with a career change of this scale.
It also tapped into something Graham had enjoyed throughout his career: working directly with people, understanding their problem, and finding the right solution for them. Appliance repair simply gave that instinct a new, hands-on outlet.
"I enjoy problem solving, working with people and finding practical solutions – Pacifica Local let me bring that into a business that's genuinely mine."
A career built on variety and people
From a market stall to financial services, Graham's career has always been about people, sales and finding solutions – skills that now power his Pacifica Local business.
From a Market Stall to the Steel Industry
Graham's first ever job was working on a market stall – an early lesson in customer service and sales. He went on to work as an Assistant Production Manager in the steel industry and later as a Structural Steel Estimator, building a strong foundation in customer-facing and commercial roles.
IT, Telecoms & Financial Services
Graham spent over 20 years in customer-facing, sales and account management roles, including IT and telecommunications sales. He went on to qualify as a Financial Adviser and Mortgage Adviser, also completing a City & Guilds 6129 Plumbing qualification and a C++ programming course along the way.
Launched Pacifica Local Barnsley
In June 2025, Graham launched his Pacifica Local franchise in Barnsley – choosing to build his own business rather than take another role in financial services, with a quicker route to a sustainable income and long-term asset.
Putting decades of experience to work locally
Since launching Pacifica Local Barnsley in June 2025, Graham has been building a business that draws on everything he's learned across a varied career.
A Career's Worth of People Skills
Over 20 years in sales, account management and financial advice means Graham brings a naturally customer-focused approach to every appointment – putting people at ease and explaining things clearly.
A Head Start on the Technical Side
A naturally analytical, problem-solving mindset – sharpened by a C++ programming course and years of technical estimating – gave Graham a practical head start when it came to learning the technical side of appliance repair.
A Business of His Own
Rather than taking another role within financial services, Graham chose to build a business he owns outright – with the long-term asset and sustainable income that brings.
Serving the Barnsley Community
Based in Barnsley, Graham is building a local reputation for reliable, friendly service – backed by Pacifica's day-one work allocation and growing local leads.
Diagnosing problems, finding solutions
Graham operates Pacifica Local Barnsley as a sole business owner, managing appointments across the local area from start to finish. Each day involves a mix of diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and speaking directly with customers – the kind of varied, people-focused work he's always enjoyed.
The problem-solving mindset he developed across his career – whether estimating structural steel projects, advising clients on financial products, or troubleshooting IT systems – translates directly into appliance repair. Every callout is a new problem to diagnose and a practical solution to find.
What's changed since becoming a franchise partner is ownership: of his time, his workload, and the business itself. Graham combines Pacifica's day-one work allocation with his own growing local reputation to build a steady, sustainable workload across Barnsley.
